LENSCRATCH Features ‘Frayed Dreams Under Stars and Stripes’

Sometimes a project takes on a life of its own. What began as a documentation of American flags across our landscape evolved into something much more profound - a visual exploration of our shared national identity and dreams.

My latest project ”FRAYED DREAMS UNDER STARS AND STRIPES” is being featured today on LENSCRATCH. I’m deeply honored that Aline Smithson saw something meaningful in this work and chose to share it with the LENSCRATCH community. 

This photographic exploration documents the American flag across our nation, capturing its presence in both pristine suburban displays and weather-worn incarnations in forgotten corners. Through my lens, I’ve sought to explore how this powerful emblem reflects our collective story and the varied manifestations of the American dream.

As a poetic activist and photographer, I believe the flag must remain a symbol for all people, regardless of their political path. Each image in this series serves as a narrative about struggle, hope, and the enduring spirit of our nation.
