WINTERS LAST DANCE

I have always been fascinated with the elusiveness of snow in the midwest. Over the last twenty years of chasing snow, it has become less and less frequent. That elusiveness portrayed in these photographs is what makes them so representative of life. This series of images was three years in the making. It took me a year to get the right conditions to create the first photograph and two more years to get the right conditions to finish the series.  I had to have just the correct type of snow to stick in the trees, just the right temperature, so the river was not frozen, and little wind so the snow would stay in the trees. The wind picked up at the end of my flight and blew all the snow out of the trees. Over three years, the conditions lasted a total of two hours.
